Safeguarding your hardware and recordings from power failure could be a worthwhile consideration. Grant Bridgeman explores the protection

The computer is such an integral part of the recording studio that part of the remit of the studio engineer now includes its smooth operation. This means protecting the computer system and its associated hardware from power fluctuations, spikes and even dropouts – to the extent that consideration may need to be given to providing a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). In the event of a power failure, the session and its settings can be saved and the last ‘killer edit/take’ won’t be lost.
