10MM 179 - Routing explained
Routing audio around the mixing console is key to any production, whether you’re mixing ‘in the box’ or through outboard equipment. Grant Bridgeman shows the way.

The concept of routing audio signals is fundamental to all of the different processes involved in making music, from tracking through mixing to mastering. At first glance, a full-scale mixing desk, whether physical or virtual, can be rather daunting, but the key is to remember that the system is completely modular and that each channel strip is performing the same functions, just to a different signal. Once you understand a single strip, the whole desk becomes far less of an overwhelming concept.
