The world of recording has now moved almost completely into the digital age, with the majority of commercial studios embracing the DAW and all the benefits it brings. For the newcomer, though, digital audio presents a wealth of bewildering theories, terminology and practices, from the basics of analogue-to-digital conversion through to more esoteric (but just as important) areas such as word clocks, jitter and dithering.
