10MM 183 - MIDI mapping
Using MIDI to communicate between hardware and software is not as complicated as you might think. Grant Bridgeman takes you on a guided tour through MIDI maps.

However, it is possible to use the smaller controls on keyboards and rackmount equipment as MIDI input devices and controllers. MIDI mapping is the process of getting the two devices to talk (and even respond) to each other.
