Data storage and retrieval is an essential part of any modern-day studio, whether it’s a large-scale commercial facility recording hundreds of audio tracks at any one time or a small project studio principally working with virtual instruments. As you’d expect, a typical music production environment places exhaustive demands on any computer, so it’s important that a computer is configured in an appropriate way to meet the demands of data storage and retrieval. This might be as simple as adding a FireWire 800 drive to a laptop setup, for example, or utilising the latest RAID and solid-state technology for super-fast streaming.
