10MM 185 - Low-pass filters
Low-pass filtering is a common process in audio manipulation, but what’s really going on as we cut-off and resonate? Grant Bridgeman has the details.

Filters are used in every stage of audio production on both the creative and the technical sides of the studio. You could go so far as to say that audio recording relies on filters, and as technology has progressed, low-pass filters are no longer firmly camped within the grounds of subtractive synthesis but are now as much an essential part of the digital recording chain as they are part of the creative guitarist’s pedalboard. Indeed, within the dance music canon there are whole sub-genres – such as ‘filter disco’ – that rely on them.
