There are few vocalists who won’t benefit from the flattering sound of a condenser microphone placed close to their mouth, thanks to both the pleasing air lift caused by the microphone’s presence peak and the detailed representation of breath noise. However, as flattering as this sound initially appears, it does have a significant downside: the corresponding rise in so-called sibilant frequencies.
