Much of the equipment that is now commonly found in project studios – from soundcards to effects processors – will be equipped with some form of digital connectivity, the two most common being S/PDIF and AES/ EBU. Both of these types of digital connection offer several advantages over their analogue counterparts, but to make full use of them it is necessary to appreciate how digital connections work, as well as the implications of connecting equipment digitally.
