In even the most simple of studio setups, audio cables are prone to interference. These noises can easily become the bane of the engineer’s life, ranging from mildly annoying to rendering equipment unusable. Most cable interference comes from earth loops that form when two or more pieces of equipment are connected together, but to appreciate where the noise comes from, we first need to review some basic electronics.
