The humble patchbay is often overlooked when considering new studio hardware, yet installing a decent patchbay can be one of the most productive additions you can make to a simple studio setup. In principle, patchbays provide the interconnections between studio hardware, so that all of the audio signals converge at a single, accessible point. However, patchbays do much more than just enabling easy access to rear-mounted sockets (although bringing hard-to-reach connections close to hand is a fantastic advantage).
