Ableton Live 7 Workshop - Custom Controllers
Tired of using your mouse and keyboard to make fine adjustments to parameters in Live? Jon Margulies shows you how to put old controllers to good use.

Ableton Live is ideal for those looking for hands-on control thanks to its superbly simple approach to assigning MIDI controllers to onscreen controls: simply enter the MIDI Map, click on a control, turn a knob and you’re done. Control surface support goes one step further – Instant Mapping makes MIDI control automatic. Depending on how many knobs, buttons and sliders your MIDI controller has, Live will automatically map volume, sends, transport and device controls. Device controls are the most powerful Instant Mappings since many control surfaces enable you to access eight banks containing eight parameters each.
