Ableton Live 8 Workshop - Working with midi
Live’s not just good with audio, it’s more than adequately equipped to deal with MIDI tracks, too, and offers plenty of creative possibilities. Hollin Jones has the low-down.
Ableton Live 8 Tutorial

Ableton Live is perhaps best known for its audio looping and time-stretching abilities, but it’s also a great MIDI sequencer and editor to boot. As well as having some excellent built-in virtual instruments – quite a few in the case of the Suite Edition – it’s able to load third-party VST instruments and, on the Mac, Audio Units plug-ins. Add to this the fact that MIDI tracks can be routed out to control external MIDI hardware and you’ve got pretty much all the tools you need to get creative with MIDI.
