Understanding that an electric guitar is actually an acoustic instrument is crucial to recording great guitar sounds. A guitarist’s tone is dependent on many factors, including their playing style, model of guitar, amplifier and speakers. A complex interaction between this chain of elements concludes in the speakers shifting air just like an acoustic guitar’s soundboard. Things get even more complicated when you factor in the room acoustics. So, if you want to capture that precious sound, you need to choose the right microphone for the job – and you have to use it effectively.
