Anyone would think the mastering world is overseen by an evil religious sect, given the degree of trepidation most music producers experience when contemplating a mastering job themselves. Sure, mastering engineers know their subject intimately and, of course, they work in the perfect environment for the job – so why are many seemingly reluctant to undertake this particular task?
