Christina Aguilera & Herbie Hancock - A Song For You

Producer Rob Lewis guides Christina Aguilera to another Grammy nomination...

What with all the ghastly speeches by Bono and the freakish resurrection of Sly Stone, no one would fault you for not having spotted musical director Rob Lewis somewhere behind Christina Aguilera at this year’s Grammy awards. Aguilera, alongside jazz legend Herbie Hancock, was there to perform their version of Leon Russell’s A Song For You. Their version, included on Hancock’s 2005 album Possibilities, had been nominated in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals alongside such heavy hitters as Stevie Wonder, Gorillaz and the Foo Fighters. The duo didn’t take away the bling, but Aguilera tore through the tune as if there was no contest. But the confidence she exuded on stage didn’t reflect the mild anxiety she’d had over the recording.
