For composers and musicians, one of the biggest benefits of the explosion in digital media has been the increased need for music. Take television, for example: when once the airwaves were dominated by just three or four terrestrial broadcasters, we now have access to hundreds of digital channels, all screaming out for unique and original music to make their programming stand out from the crowd. Put simply, there’s never been a better time to make music for TV. Even for mainstream artists, the revenue from advertising and TV background music has become just as lucrative, and as vital to the success of their records as the traditional medium of singles sales.
