Pro Tools’ open approach to audio routing and processing offers many creative opportunities. Dan Livesey takes a look at the RTAS plug-ins.
One of the skills of the sound engineer is to be imaginative with the equipment at his disposal, and to stretch its creative potential. With the myriad plug-ins that are available, it’s easy to lose sight of the ‘less-is-more’ approach to sound recording and production – and let’s face it, many classic recordings and effects were produced with hardly any gear at all.
