You can do a lot more with MIDI material in Cubase than simply quantizing and looping it. Hollin Jones uncovers some of the app’s lesser-known features.

Cubase started life as a MIDI sequencer, long before computers could work with digital audio. Its enviable reputation among the leading DAWs for its ability to handle MIDI remains largely intact, although most of the competition also now have excellent audio and MIDI features. Given that, it might be more accurate to say that it offers one of the most friendly ways of working with MIDI currently available to musicians.
