Cubase 4 Workshop Surround Production

Producing music in surround isn’t a practice that’s restricted to high-end studios. Armed with Cubase 4 and the right speakers, Hollin Jones explains how you too can get in on the act.

For many musicians, surround sound is an area that is explored with only casual interest, regarded as the preserve of movie-makers and conceptual artists. To an extent this is true – virtually everyone listens to music in two-channel stereo after all – but there is more to surround than home cinema. You may not know it, but your copy of Cubase 4 (not Cubase Studio) is fully capable of recording, processing, mixing and exporting in a number of surround formats.
