Cubase SX/SL3 Workshop Controlling Cubase
Tired of rooting through menus in Cubase? Hollin Jones shows you how to take control of your music software.

There’s a lot of kit to deal with in the traditional music studio – at the very least, a mixing desk, some outboard effects and a tape or hard disk recorder. This also means there are a lot of controls – buttons, knobs and switches – located in different parts of the room. Software, on the other hand, is almost the polar opposite. While most of the controls you’ll find in a studio are duplicated in software, your interaction with the program is limited to a mouse and a keyboard. And while software affords a lot more flexibility than hardware in many ways, it requires a different approach to working.
