Cubase started life as a MIDI sequencer on the Atari platform, although you wouldn’t guess it from the myriad audio recording and processing features that it now possesses. For many, it’s still the best MIDI sequencer around, and some people still use very early versions of Cubase hooked up to vintage synths like the ARP 2600.
