Cubase SX/SL3 Workshop Remixing
Some of the most interesting music heard today is created by re-interpreting existing tracks. Hollin Jones gets remixing in Cubase...
Remixing probably wouldn’t be one of the more immediate applications you’d associate with a package such as Cubase. But Cubase is a production environment, and actually has all the tools that you need to successfully remix music. It is a skill in itself, of course, encompassing song writing, arrangement and sound editing, among other things. It is also quite different from writing your own music: you have a lot of material to start off with, plus a song structure and style already in place. Where you go from there is entirely up to you. There’s nothing to stop you remixing tracks to the point where they are almost unrecognisable from the originals. Conversely, you can leave some elements intact, but change others.
