Cubase SX/SL3 Workshop The Embracer
The Embracer is an accomplished pad synthesizer – but did you know that it’s also ready for surround sound? Hollin Jones goes beyond stereo.

There’s one aspect of Cubase SX that often remains undiscovered by many users: its surround sound capabilities. Up until fairly recently, surround – like so many other technologies – was the preserve of large studios. It started to become popular with the advent of LaserDisc and DVD home cinema systems, which enabled people to set up audio-visual equipment in their living rooms that emulated the experience of going to the cinema. Today, some albums are released in both stereo and special surround formats, and it’s common for music as well as film DVDs to have a surround sound option.
