EQ and filtering in Logic
Two of the most widely used functions are EQ and Filtering. Dan Livesey explains how they’re implemented in Logic.
There are many points during the recording and mixing process when it becomes necessary to alter the frequency content – the timbre – of the material you’re working with. Although arguably almost any process will alter a recording’s tonal qualities, EQ and Filtering are the processes that give you the most direct control over the frequency content of a sound, and the ones we’ll be looking at here. The two processes are fairly closely related – EQ enables you to ‘shape’ sounds by boosting or cutting certain frequencies, whereas a filter will remove certain frequency content completely.
