The signature sound that is Goldfrapp isn’t crafted with state-of-the-art equipment in big-bucks studios, as JoE Silva finds out.
Ringing in to the very purple mixing suite at London’s legendary Olympic Studios, the voice of Peter Gabriel comes down the line, coming through the speakers in glorious 5.1 sound. It’s here that Will Gregory, 50 per cent of the dynamic pop duo Goldfrapp, is preparing Supernature, their latest release for the generation of listeners who’ve already made the leap to the latest audio format. It’s something that seems almost de rigueur these days, and Gregory has been up to Gabriel’s Real World studios to get an idea on how to approach the process.
