Suggesting that smashing the dynamics out of a sound with heavy limiting or saturation might seem to go against the grain, but in some genres of music it can actually yield great results. Of course, there are die-hard purists out there who will advise against this practice at all costs, but have a listen to recent productions from acts such as Justice, Daft Punk, Pendulum or The Prodigy and you’ll soon realise that it’s a technique that can work well in the right circumstances
