One of the most useful aspects of digital audio editing from a musician’s point of view is the complete control it gives you over your recorded material. In recent years, interest has grown in the notion of slicing audio files to make them ‘elastic’ – in other words, enabling them to adapt to the tempo of any project. Once it’s sliced, audio can be treated more flexibly, almost like MIDI.
