Sonar 4 Workshop Freezing Tracks & Synths

Sonar 4 enables automatic Freezing of CPU-draining effects and instruments. Brian Smithers explores its practical and creative uses.

One of the challenges of working with a host-based DAW such as Sonar is managing your CPU resources to ensure that you don’t run out of processing power at a critical moment. Savvy digital engineers often accomplish this either by using file-based effects or by ‘printing’ effects to tracks, in much the same way as they have printed effects to tape for years.
