Getting creative with delays in Pro Tools
How do you make the most of your free plug-ins? Andrew Taylor-Maskrey takes a look at some creative techniques with Pro Tools’ delay plug-ins.
Probably the second most-used effect after reverb (also the basis for many plug-ins) is delay. Taking time out to investigate delay and its applications could potentially save you forking out for some of the more glitzy delay-based plug-ins. Pro Tools’ nuts-and-bolts approach to plug-ins and the lack of supplied presets may not seem quite as exciting as some sexy-looking offerings, but with perseverance you can create some really interesting effects from simple phasing to almost vocoded-sounding voices.
