Getting to grips with Ableton Live 3
The version 3 release of Ableton’s Live software includes some interesting new features. Shawn Balm tells us how to use them.
If you’ve ever used samples, a loop library or your own recordings to create loops, you’ll know how they can provide inspiration and an easy way to create songs. Digital audio applications offer many tools for editing samples and loops, but there is often a lot of work involved in getting them to fit a song idea. In addition to changing the pitch and tempo to fit the song, you often need to add new loops or find ways to vary the loops you’re already using in order to keep things interesting. All of this can slow down or completely kill your creativity, leaving you feeling as though all your work was for nothing. Ableton Live 3 offers a unique way of dealing with these problems in a single application.
