Cakewalk produces the most widely installed music software on the planet, with over one million registered users worldwide. Apart from dominating the US market for well over ten years, its global market share has been consistently growing, too. But why the popularity? Cakewalk software has met with some criticism over the years for its somewhat antiquated look. Moreover, in an industry historically dominated by the Macintosh, it might be difficult to see the appeal of a piece of software that’s limited to the PC platform. However, Cakewalk enthusiasts are unanimous in their reasons for loyalty: it’s really easy to use, and it has an enviable reputation for rock-solid stability. Those Cakewalk guys really understand how to write stable code for Windows.
