Guitar Rig 4 Go Workshop - Getting Started
Guitar Rig 4 Go may not appear to have a massive feature set on paper, but it’s still more than capable of creating some superb sounds. Mike Hillier gets under way.

Guitar Rig 4 Go, which can be downloaded from Native Instruments’ website, is a free version of the company’s Guitar Rig 4 software. The Go edition has a smaller collection of amp and effects emulations than the full version, which includes a staggering selection of 15 amps and matched cabinets, 48 effects and additional tools for controlling, recording and mixing your guitar parts. Guitar Rig 4 Go shares the same sound engine, but includes emulations of only one amp (with a matched cabinet) and three effects. However, it is still entirely possible to achieve a huge range of sounds from these effects alone – and it wasn’t that long ago that having access to one amp, one distortion, one reverb and a delay was all you needed, and there are certainly plenty of guitarists touring with less.
