In recent years it has become a common sight to see musicians using laptop computers to perform, both live and in the studio. The laptop is the ultimate in mobile music technology: a general-purpose platform that can serve as a multitrack recorder/sequencer, a standalone synthesizer or sampler, or an effects processing unit, depending on what software is used.
