Live 6 Workshop Understanding Warping
Live’s approach to warping audio can be exploited to achieve some interesting and creative variations on a basic groove. Jon Margulies shows you how it’s done...

One of the most interesting features of Ableton Live is its Warping function: Live’s ability to play any sample in sync with a chosen tempo. Despite its significance, however, it remains a poorly or incompletely understood topic by a lot of Live users. That’s understandable if you’re primarily using Live as a DJ platform or for MIDI sequencing, but by taking some time to fully understand warping you will be able to rapidly incorporate a much wider variety of audio material into your sets and open up creative possibilities that you might not have realised exist.
