Live 6 Workshop Using Racks

More than just glorified instrument and effects groups, racks enable you to combine and create new sounds. Jon Margulies explains.



As software tools for music production have become more powerful and abundant, there has been a growing need for new tools that deal exclusively with the task of making it easier to use existing instruments and effects. Reason’s Combinator and Native Instruments’ Kore are two prime examples, and with version 6 of Live, Ableton has introduced its own take on the concept: instrument and effect racks.
