Ableton Live 8 Workshop - Recording samples
Audio recording, compiling and rendering isn’t as intuitive in Live as it is in most other DAWs. Liam O’Mullane shows you the best approach to creating samples.
Ableton Live 8 Tutorial

This month’s feature on vocal manipulation covers various techniques for using a sampler to create vocal-based drum and instrument sounds. Before you get to the sampler stage, the obligatory process of auditioning multiple recorded takes to then compile and prepare audio files is relatively easy in most DAWs due to their high level of editing tools, dedicated behaviour modes and shortcut keys. In Live, however, it can be a trickier task as it doesn’t have many traditional audio editing features, so this Workshop aims to show you the ins and outs to complete the processes above.
