Logic Pro 7 Workshop Pitch And Time Manipulation
Logic Pro’s pitch- and time-manipulation features just get better and better with each new release... Mark Cousins shows you how to get more from your loops.

Apple’s acquisition of Emagic has brought many things, but one of the less-publicised refinements has been the improvement made to Logic’s ability to manipulate the pitch and time of an audio file. In a large part these changes have been driven by Apple’s need to provide an easy, glitch-free import path between songs created in GarageBand – its entry-level audio sequencing application – and Logic Pro, at the other end of the scale. And because one of GarageBand’s main features is the way it can ‘elastically’ handle audio files (whereby the speed and transposition of loops and recordings can be freely manipulated), it was only a matter of time before Logic Pro incorporated this same functionality. With the release or 7.1, therefore, Logic Pro has finally become fully GarageBand-compliant – and Logic users can now enjoy much greater flexibility when working with audio.
