Logic Pro 7 Workshop SubBass & Exciter
Do your mixes lack the subsonic depth or crystal-clear highs of a commercial recording? Mark Cousins investigates a Special solution...

Although the standard of most project studio mixes is good, they can sometimes lack the sheen and power of a commercial mix – mainly in respect to the two extremes of the audio spectrum (treble ‘air’ and subsonic bass). Traditional tools such as equalisation can help bring a degree of professional gloss, but if your kick drum simply hasn’t got the low-end power it needs or that all-important acoustic guitar part has been recorded with a dynamic mic, no amount of strategic equalisation will resolve your problems. When the sonic issues go beyond the capabilities of EQ, therefore, it’s time to turn to Logic Pro’s Special branch of plug-ins, and, in particular, the SubBass and Exciter.
