There’s little doubt that compression is one of the important tools when it comes to mixing, restraining dynamic range (to help a sound sit in place) as well as being an effect in its own right. It’s no surprise, therefore, that there are so many third-party compressors to choose from, each dedicated to providing its own flavour of compression. But does this mean that Logic’s own compressor is somehow inferior in sound or performance?
