Logic Pro 8 Workshop Delay Designer
Delay Designer is just one of several new plug-ins to be explored in Logic Studio. Mark Cousins shows you how to master its unique delay-based effects.

Recording musicians have a wealth of esoteric and exotic effects and plug-ins to choose from, but it’s often the most basic tools that are reached for on a daily basis. A prime example is delay: from straightforward slapback treatments on vocals to swirling, rhythmic delays across synths and drums. Indeed, there are few mixes that can’t be given an extra dose of flavour or colour by the strategic addition of delay. Of course, Logic Pro has never been short of usable delay effects (check out the marvellous Space Echo-inspired Tape Delay and the Stereo Delay plug-in), but it’s Logic Studio’s new Delay Designer that’s taken delay treatments in Logic Pro to a new level.
