Logic Pro 8 Workshop - The Multipressor
Logic’s revised Multipressor has a powerful collection of features to control both the dynamics and frequency content of your mix. Mark Cousins finds a new band.

When TC Electronic released the Finalizer in 1996, project studio owners fi nally got access to the wonders of multi-band compression. Until then, this kind of compression was the preserve of dedicated mastering facilities, as well as being one of leading signalprocessing tools used by radio stations to lend both 'sound’ and dynamic intensity to their transmissions. Something of a marriage between a compressor and an equalizer, a multi-band compressor offers a unique way of controlling both the dynamics and timbre of a piece of music, and is widely relied upon for giving that ‘releasequality’ sheen to tracks.
