Despite debuting only in Reason 5, Kong has already secured a reputation as one of the most powerful drum production tools around. Mo Volans digs in.

Propellerhead fans have always had access to some pretty impressive drum tech. Even the company’s very early creations – such as the now legendary ReBirth package – offered two classic hardware emulations in the form of a virtual TR-909 and TR-808.
This level of quality was continued into early versions of Reason, giving users the choice between a dedicated drum sampler and sequencer called ReDrum and more traditional samplers in the form of the NN-19 and NN-XT .
