Mastering with Software

Mastering is crucial to getting a professional sound for your tracks, and with ever more software solutions on the market, you can now do it yourself. Hollin Jones explains.

Mastering is the final step in the music-production process, the last stage of processing that is undertaken before a track or an album is sent out into the world. As such, it’s also one of the most important stages – and perhaps also the most agonising, since it represents the last point at which you can make creative decisions about the sound.
