Mastering with WaveBurner in Logic Pro 7

With Logic Pro 7 now including WaveBurner, the mastering process can finally be performed within Logic itself. Mark Cousins gets out his little red book.

It seems we place ever-increasing demands on our humble audio workstations. When Logic first appeared, many users would have been content with using it solely as a MIDI sequencer, but nowadays its application extends to almost every part of the contemporary studio – from multitrack recorder to sampler, plus a whole lot more besides. Up until the release of Logic Pro 7, however, there has been one piece missing from the puzzle – that of mastering, and the creation of a Red Book master CD. Plug-ins such as Multipressor and the Adaptive Limiter certainly helped in creating finished audio files, but the actual process of organising and burning these onto CD had to be performed elsewhere.
