A memorable melody is key to capturing and maintaining interest in a song or score, so an understanding of composition is a useful asset. Keith Gemmell takes the lead.
Melody has inherent power: a good tune can evoke a long-forgotten
memory; it has the power to move us, to bring submerged emotions
flooding to the surface. A strong melody will ingrain itself in our
memories and – whether we like it or not – have us subconsciously
humming it all day long.
