In last month’s feature we explored the basic ingredients and
requirements of a memorable melody. We discovered that there are no
hard-and-fast rules and no secret recipes for success. But there are a
few generally accepted guidelines that we can follow, gleaned from the
works of the world’s greatest composers. We’re now going to delve a
little deeper into the technical aspects of constructing a good tune,
in accordance with some of those guidelines.
