Mixing with Logic Pro 8
The second instalment of our foray into Logic Pro explores more key mixing tasks and tools, including automation, cleaning up vocals and what you can do with MIDI.

If you have a hardware controller that can send MIDI controller data, you can use it to control various parameters in Logic – anything from the modulation, pitch bend wheels and expression pedals to a dedicated hardware box with lots of knobs, faders and switches. Some hardware controllers also have preset assignments within Logic, but you can easily enable your hardware controller to control any Logic parameter manually. You could, for example, use your synth’s knobs to adjust parameters on the ES-1. Choose Logic Pro> Preferences>Control Surfaces>Controller Assignments and click on Easy View. Next, select a parameter on the ES-1. For example, if you want to control the fi lter cutoff, just move the onscreen control on the ES-1.
