Offline editing in Logic Audio. Part One.
In the first of a two-parter, Dan Livesey takes a closer look at some of the more creative aspects of audio and file management.
Modern computer-based recording systems like Logic can generate huge amounts of data; typically, a CD-quality file recorded in stereo eats up about 10MB of drive space per minute. And if you’re keeping up with the Joneses and recording at 96kHz and 24-bit, that figure is roughly three times larger. Also, each edit that you carry out on your audio will create a new region within Logic. So if you’re doing a lot of editing, you’ll end up with a long list of regions.
