Offline editing in Logic Audio. Part Two.
In the second instalment of this two-parter, Andrew Taylor-Maskrey offers an introduction to some of the possibilities offered by Logic Audio’s Digital Factory.
Normally the mention of digital signal processing infers the use of real-time plug-ins. And in most cases this is probably true. Back in the early days of hard disk recording, when the Atari ST was king of the studio, most digital signal processing took place offline, ie. not in real time. Even something as simple as reversing a short soundfile could take minutes. More complex processing would literally require days of waiting, and even then the results were often disappointing.
