Omnisphere Workshop
Unlocking the power of Omnisphere’s STEAM engine reveals its true creative potential as a contemporary software synth. Mark Cousins enters a new ’Sphere.

One of Omnisphere’s biggest surprises is just how creative Spectrasonics’ super-synth is to use. Certainly, few people ever seriously edited the patches on Atmosphere (Omnisphere’s forerunner), and with a reputation for providing thousands of inspiring presets to work with, it would be logical to assume that Omnisphere wouldn’t be jam-packed with user-editable synthesis tools. However, Omnisphere has proved itself to be one of the most powerful software synthesizers currently available, and a great source for any number of creative sound-design tasks.
